The Sportkings Series A Checklist Is Almost Complete

Dr. Brian H. Price is pleased to announce that the line-up for the upcoming Sportkings Series A is filling in quite nicely. "When we initially published our base card checklist we had five openings, now we are down to just three with recent signings of Roger Clemens and Picabo Street" Price reported. "We are also pleased to announce the addition of our fourth Future Sportking, Olympic Gold-Metal Swimming Star Amada Beard.

Sportking: Roger Clemens

One of baseball's most dominant pitchers over the past 20 years, Roger began his pro career in 1984 with the Boston Red Sox. Two years later, he was named the American League's Most Valuable Player and took his team to an appearance in the World Series. Clemens spent 13 seasons with the Sox and then he had a short stint with the Toronto Blue Jays before joining the New York Yankees. As a member of the Yankees, he was a part of two championship teams. His consistency and on-field accomplishments earned him a great deal of respect from teammates and opponents and he has won the Cy Young Award on a record seven occasions. He is a 350-game winner and is one of only four pitchers to crack the 4,000 strikeout barrier which earned him the title of a Sportking.

Sportking: Picabo Street

Picabo is one of the greatest American skiers in recent years. Street joined the United States Ski Team at the age of 18 in 1989 and quickly emerged as a star in her sport. In 1994, she took Silver in the Downhill event at the Winter Games in Lillehammer, Norway and followed it up with a pair of World Cup victories in the event in 1995 and 1996. The first American to win a season overall title, she captured Gold in the

Super-G event at the 1998 Winter Games in Nagano, Japan. Picabo came back from a severe injury to participate in the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City and retired shortly thereafter. A member of the National Ski Hall of Fame, her place as a Sportking is well-deserved.

Future Sportking: Amanda Beard

A Future Sportking, 25-year-old Amanda Beard is one of the world's top swimmers capturing seven medals at the Summer Games. She won two Silver Medals and one Gold Medal at the age of 14 while participating in the 1996 Summer Games in Atlanta and later won an individual NCAA National Championship in 2001. In 2003, she set a world record in the 200-meter breaststroke and won a Gold Medal in the event at the 2004 Summer Games in Athens, Greece. Modeling is another of her passions appearing in such publications as the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition and FHM in addition to recently being featured in the July 2007 edition of Playboy.
